R-Tech Ueno, Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo, President: Yukiko Hashitera, “R-Tech Ueno” hereinbelow) and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation (Head Office: Osaka, President: Natsuki Hayama, “Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma” hereinbelow) hereby announce that they have entered into a license agreement to grant rights for R-Tech Ueno to develop and commercialize in Japan ophthalmic solutions that uses, as active ingredient, recombinant human serum albumin, originated by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma, for the treatment of dry eye.

　

At the annual stockholders’ meeting held on June 28, 2007, R-Tech Ueno appointed Motoyuki Sakasegawa to a Corporate Auditor. Sakasegawa takes over the role of Masanori Ueda who served his full term.

New Directors and Auditors were nominated at the R-Tech Ueno shareholders’ meeting on June 29, 2006.

Following the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Mitsunaga Tada, effective April 1, Ms. Yukiko Hashitera (current Chief Operational Officer, Director of Business Management) will be taking over the position. Furthermore, Dr. Yukihiko Mashima (currently the Director of the Translational Research Advancement Lab) will be appointed Director of Board, Managing Director of Research and Development.

The Chronic Idiopathic Constipation treatment drug, AMITIZA(TM) which was developed by R-Tech Ueno’s affiliate company, Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Bethesda MD, hereafter Sucampo), was approved by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) on January 31.

On March 31, Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Bethesda MD, U.S., hereafter referred to as Sucampo), a group company of R-Tech Ueno, submitted a NDA to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA)) to market the chronic constipation drug, Lubiprostone.

Effective April 1, 2005, R-Tech Ueno has appointed as its director, Dr. Yukihiko Mashima (associate professor, Dept. of Ophthalmology, Keio University School of Medicine), who is a leading researcher in genetic eye disorders.

R-Tech Ueno, Ltd. and Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. today announced that Santen will acquire the exclusive marketing rights in Japan for RESCULA Eye Drops. On October 1 Santen will start sales of RESCULA Eye Drops for the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. R-Tech Ueno has the approval of the drug and will provide basic strategies for marketing and promotion of the product. In addition, R-Tech Ueno will directly promote the product to some of the medical institutions through its own approximately 30 medical representatives dedicated to RESCULA Eye Drops.

R-Tech Ueno, Ltd. and Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. today announced that the marketing agreement for Rescula Eye Drops in Japan will be terminated and R-Tech Ueno will start marketing the product from October 1, 2004.

Ryuji Ueno, MD, PhD., PhD., Chairman of R-Tech Ueno, will give a special lecture titled as "From Discovery of Prostone to Creation of Rescula Glaucoma Medication" at the Medicine Innovation Research Group meeting at Yamaguchi University.
